runDisney Weekends: DVC Planning for Princess, Wine & Dine, and Springtime Surprise

runDisney hosts three major weekends beyond Marathon Weekend. Here's how DVC members plan around Princess, Wine & Dine, and Springtime Surprise.

The Three runDisney Weekends

Beyond January Marathon Weekend, runDisney hosts: Princess Half Marathon Weekend (late February), Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend (early November, during Food & Wine), and Springtime Surprise Weekend (April). Each draws thousands of runners and their families.

Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Princess weekend draws a predominantly women's running crowd. Events span Thursday-Sunday with 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and the Glass Slipper Challenge. Resorts near monorail or Skyliner work best for early-morning race buses. Princess Weekend often falls in Choice Season — moderate point costs.

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

Wine & Dine combines a half marathon with Epcot's Food & Wine Festival. The 5K and 10K run through Epcot; the half marathon spans multiple parks ending at ESPN. Beach Club and BoardWalk are the best resort picks — walking distance to Epcot for both racing and festival eating. Point costs match standard Food & Wine pricing.

Springtime Surprise Weekend

Springtime Surprise hosts a 10-Miler as its marquee distance plus 5K and 10K. April timing usually falls in Magic Season — higher point costs but warm weather. Resorts with good pool amenities (Beach Club, Kidani, Saratoga) shine for post-race recovery.

Booking Windows for Race Weekends

Cabins at Fort Wilderness and Boulder Ridge Cabins fill quickly at 11 months — runners love the cabin space for gear. Bay Lake Tower and Polynesian Studios book fast for Magic Kingdom proximity. Saratoga, Old Key West, and Animal Kingdom Villas usually have 7-month availability for race weekends.

Pre-Race Logistics

Race expos run Thursday-Friday at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Bib pickup is required — first-time race weekend visitors should plan for 2–3 hours at the expo on arrival day. Carb-loading dinners book up around Disney resorts — Italian restaurants like Trattoria al Forno (BoardWalk) and Maria & Enzo's (Disney Springs) are popular.

Multi-Race Training Trips

Some runners book multiple race weekends per year. A 150-point DVC contract can fund 2–3 race weekend trips annually if used in studios at value resorts. Banking enables an occasional Dopey Challenge year that requires more nights. RunDisney is one of the most common reasons committed DVC members initially bought.
