Resort Studios at the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian are hotel rooms in the Big Pine Key building that were converted to DVC inventory in 2022. They are smaller than a traditional Deluxe Studio, lack the full mini-kitchen and dedicated dining area, and use a Queen bed plus a daybed layout rather than the traditional Studio's Queen plus fold-out sofa. Point cost is meaningfully lower than a Deluxe Studio at the same resort.
Resort Studios at VGF cost roughly 25–30% fewer points than a Deluxe Studio at the same resort in the same season. In Adventure Season a Resort Studio runs 15 points per weeknight vs 20 for a Deluxe Studio. Over a 5-night stay that's 25 saved points — enough to fund an extra night at Saratoga or add a runDisney weekend to your calendar.
The refrigerator is a small mini-fridge, not a full-height model. No microwave (a Nespresso-style coffee maker is provided). No two-burner cooktop. No dedicated dining table — meals happen on the desk or bed. Slightly less closet space. No dedicated hallway between the bed and the front door. Roughly 375 sq ft vs 440 sq ft for a Deluxe Studio.
Full monorail-loop location. Access to the entire Grand Floridian resort, including the pools, marina, spa, and dining. Same soft goods and refresh-2022 aesthetic as the Big Pine Key building's Deluxe Studios. Same daily housekeeping cadence as any DVC studio. Same balcony (or Juliet balcony) depending on room location.
Couples or solo travelers. Members who spend most waking hours in the parks and only sleep in the room. Members counting points carefully. Split-stay travelers whose "GF night" is one or two nights of a longer trip. Repeat GF visitors who already know the resort and don't need the extended-stay comforts of a full Deluxe Studio.
Families of 3+ where the daybed layout doesn't work — the daybed is genuinely narrower than a Deluxe Studio's fold-out sofa. Cooking-oriented members who prep breakfast in-room. Longer stays where the extra 65 sq ft of Deluxe Studio starts to matter. Anyone who has never stayed at a Grand Floridian villa — book a Deluxe Studio your first time so you have the reference point.
Resort Studios have higher availability at 7 months than Deluxe Studios at the same resort because members who "want VGF" tend to prefer the traditional Studio layout. If you're a 7-month opportunist trying to sneak onto the monorail loop, Resort Studios are your friend. If you're an 11-month home-resort owner at VGF, the Deluxe Studios are worth the extra points on a special trip.
