About this resort

Disney's Vero Beach Resort opened in 1995 on Florida's Treasure Coast, about a two-hour drive northeast of Walt Disney World. The resort sits directly on a quiet stretch of Atlantic Ocean beach, with a lush, palm-shaded campus designed to evoke the elegance of an early-20th-century Florida beachfront retreat. It's intentionally smaller and quieter than the WDW resorts — just over 100 DVC villas, plus inn rooms and a few private beachfront cottages.

What makes Vero Beach distinctive is its combination of ocean access, conservation programs, and easy distance from WDW. The Atlantic beachfront is a protected sea turtle nesting habitat, and the resort runs guided turtle walks during nesting season (June through October). Other on-site programs include nature talks, beach yoga, campfires, outdoor movies on the lawn, and evening character meet-and-greets.

Vero Beach is often used by DVC owners as a 'bookend' for a Walt Disney World trip — a few quiet beach days before or after the parks, with the drive to/from WDW being just over two hours. The resort also serves as a popular stop for guests boarding Disney Cruise Line ships at Port Canaveral, which is about an hour to the north. Villa inventory ranges from Studios to 2-bedroom villas plus three Beach Cottages — ocean-view two-bedroom standalone homes that are exceptionally desirable but limited.

Getting around

Rental car required — there is no direct shuttle from MCO airport (Vero Beach is about 90 minutes from MCO). Walt Disney World is roughly a 2-hour drive west. Port Canaveral cruise terminal is about 1 hour north. The town of Vero Beach (~10 minutes south) has additional dining and shopping.

Dining

Wind & Waves Grill is the resort's primary table-service restaurant, with strong seafood and an oceanfront location. Wind & Waves Market handles quick-service breakfast, sandwiches, and snacks. The Green Cabin Room serves cocktails and small plates poolside.
