Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows occupies arguably the most coveted parcel of land at Walt Disney World: a curving white-sand beach on Seven Seas Lagoon, looking directly across the water at Cinderella Castle. The resort opened as the Polynesian Village in October 1971 — the same week the Magic Kingdom opened — and the DVC Villas were added in April 2015. The villa inventory is small by DVC standards, with most rooms being Deluxe Studios converted from existing hotel rooms in the Pago Pago, Moorea, and Tokelau longhouses, plus 20 over-water Bungalows on the lagoon itself.

The Polynesian theme runs deep here: thatched-style roofs, tiki torches lit at dusk, koi ponds, lush tropical landscaping, and traditional Hawaiian and Tahitian motifs throughout. The lobby (the Great Ceremonial House) was extensively refreshed in 2021 and now features a vibrant central waterfeature, expanded retail, and the popular Kona Café. The pool complex is anchored by the Lava Pool with its volcanic slide and the smaller, quieter Oasis Pool near the Bungalows.

What makes the Polynesian special for DVC owners is the combination of monorail access to both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT (via the Transportation & Ticket Center), the lagoon-front beach, and the boat service that runs to Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian. The Bungalows in particular are a bucket-list accommodation: each sleeps eight, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a private plunge pool on the back deck, and direct lagoon views — meaning the Magic Kingdom fireworks essentially happen in your backyard. They are also the most expensive DVC accommodation on a points-per-night basis at Walt Disney World, with values often exceeding 200 points per night during peak seasons.
