Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Very Merry Christmas Party are cash-add-ons — but the room around them can be a DVC play. Here's how to time everything to keep both cost and crowd exposure manageable.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (August 15 – November 1, 2026) and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (November 6 – December 22, 2026) are hard-ticketed after-hours events at Magic Kingdom. Ticket prices in 2026 range from $135 to $215 per person depending on date. In exchange you get 5-hour park access with dramatically reduced crowds, exclusive fireworks, cavalcades, character interactions, and complimentary treats.
Party nights close Magic Kingdom to non-party guests at 6:00 PM. That means DVC members holding a park ticket for that same day get essentially half a day of regular park plus the transition. Point costs for hotel nights around party dates are still standard chart rates — Disney does not surcharge DVC points for party weeks. The party ticket is the only add-on cost.
Halloween: early September Wednesdays and Thursdays (lowest ticket price, thinnest crowds). Very Merry: mid-November Tuesdays and Wednesdays (before Thanksgiving crowds arrive). Both parties price-tier aggressively by date — the Saturday before Halloween can cost 60% more than a mid-week early-season party. Members with flexibility should never buy the peak-date ticket.
Bay Lake Tower or the Contemporary is the objectively correct choice for party nights — walking home at midnight after fireworks with tired kids is transformative. Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Wilderness Lodge (with boat) are excellent second choices. Off-monorail resorts (Saratoga, Old Key West, Riviera) work but the post-party bus queue at midnight is real.
Adventure and Choice Season overlap with early Halloween Party dates — BLT Standard View Studios at 15 pts/night, Polynesian Standard View at 16 pts. Very Merry weeks push into Dream Season starting mid-November — BLT jumps to 19–21 pts. The overlap window (Sept 15 – Oct 15 for Halloween, Nov 8–20 for Very Merry) offers the best combined point-and-ticket value.
Book party night at your MK-walkable resort. Split the trip: 2 nights BLT (party night + prep day) and 3 nights Saratoga (park days, festival, dining). Total points can be 20% less than a full 5 nights at BLT and the party experience is unaffected. Members with young kids benefit most from front-loading the party night early in the trip when energy is highest.
Booking Friday or Saturday parties — the crowd and cost premiums destroy the value. Skipping the Halloween party at 3+ years old — the character stops and trick-or-treat trails are Halloween-magical for young families. Trying to do the party plus 12 hours of park in one day — this ruins both. Buying tickets less than 30 days out — most peak dates sell out.
