Kidani Village vs Jambo House: Which Animal Kingdom Villas Wins?

Both Animal Kingdom Villa buildings offer savanna views and exotic theming. Here's how Kidani and Jambo compare for DVC members.

Two Buildings, One Resort

Animal Kingdom Villas spans two buildings: Jambo House (the original main resort with limited DVC inventory) and Kidani Village (the dedicated DVC building). Both share access to the resort's three savannas, pools, and Boma/Jiko dining at Jambo. Kidani has its own pool complex and Sanaa restaurant.

Jambo House: Grand Lobby, Limited DVC

Jambo House features the iconic 6-story lobby with a stunning chandelier and walk-up savanna viewing. DVC rooms are integrated among hotel rooms. Restaurants Boma (buffet) and Jiko (signature) are among Disney's best. Access to the Mara quick service is convenient. Jambo's DVC studios are sometimes available at lower point costs than Kidani's.

Kidani Village: Dedicated DVC

Kidani is purpose-built DVC with larger one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas than typical DVC offerings. The pool complex includes a zero-entry pool, a 128-foot waterslide, and a splash zone — excellent for families. Sanaa restaurant serves Indian-African fusion with savanna views, widely considered one of Disney's most underrated dining experiences.

Savanna Views: The Real Reason to Book

Both buildings offer Savanna View rooms with active wildlife — giraffes, zebras, kudu, and more — visible from your balcony at multiple times per day. For families with children, the savanna view alone justifies an Animal Kingdom Villas stay. Standard View rooms (parking lot or pool) miss the magic but cost noticeably fewer points.

Transportation and Parks

Bus transportation only — no monorail, boat, or Skyliner. Buses to Animal Kingdom are quick (5–10 minutes). Buses to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios take 20–30 minutes. This is a resort that rewards staying at the resort. Many families plan half-days at the parks and half-days enjoying the savannas and pools.

Point Cost and Value

Animal Kingdom Villas offers some of the best point-per-night value in DVC. Standard View studios at Kidani in Adventure Season run as low as 8–10 points/night. Savanna View carries a 20–30% premium but is the experience most members come for. Combined with the lower annual dues structure, AKV is consistently among the best long-term value plays in DVC.

Verdict: Kidani for DVC Members

For DVC members, Kidani is the right pick — purpose-built DVC accommodations, dedicated pool, Sanaa restaurant, larger room layouts. Jambo House works for occasional stays or when Kidani is full, but Kidani is the home resort to buy if Animal Kingdom Villas is your target.
