Riviera Resort opened in 2019 with European Riviera theming — Italian, French, and Spanish coastal influences. The architecture, dining, and pool design are intentionally adult-oriented compared to other DVC resorts. The aesthetic stands out in a Disney portfolio dominated by tropical and American themes.
Topolino's Terrace is the rooftop restaurant — character breakfast in the morning, signature dining in the evening. The food quality and views (Spaceship Earth and Hollywood Studios fireworks) make Topolino's one of Disney's most sought-after reservations. Bar Riva at the pool, Le Petit Café for coffee and pastries, and Primo Piatto for quick service round out the dining scene.
Riviera has a dedicated Skyliner station connecting to Epcot's International Gateway and Hollywood Studios. The 5–10 minute ride beats buses for these parks. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom require bus transportation. The Skyliner connection alone is worth a premium for couples and families focused on Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
Tower Studios are the smallest DVC rooms ever built — sleeping just 2 guests with a Murphy bed, kitchenette, and small bathroom. Point cost is genuinely low (as little as 9 points/night in Adventure Season). For couples who want a Riviera stay without committing to a full studio's points, Tower Studios are the entry point. Inventory is limited.
Riviera points purchased on the resale market can ONLY book Riviera. They cannot book any other DVC resort at the 7-month window. This is the single biggest downside of buying Riviera resale. Direct purchases retain full DVC-wide booking. Resale prices reflect this — Riviera resale trades at the lowest per-point cost of any modern DVC resort.
Riviera's point charts are aggressive. Deluxe Studio rates run 11–20+ points/night depending on season and view. One-bedroom villas climb quickly. Premier Season pricing makes Riviera one of the most expensive resorts in the system. The Skyliner location justifies premiums for some members but stretches budgets for others.
Buy Riviera direct if you specifically want this resort year after year and value Skyliner access plus Topolino's. Buy Riviera resale only if you're comfortable booking Riviera and Riviera only — treat it as a single-resort commitment. Skip it entirely if you want booking flexibility across the DVC system and are budget-constrained.
